Why Choose Cloudy?

Cloudy is designed with your privacy and peace of mind at its core. We provide a secure, reliable, and effortless way to back up your valuable data.

Unlike many cloud services that store your data on remote servers beyond your control, Cloudy emphasizes local-first backups, giving you full ownership. Optionally sync to your own Google Drive, not ours.

With smart automation like weather-based emergency backups and intelligent scheduling, Cloudy works silently in the background, protecting your files without interrupting you. It's free, transparent, and built on the principle that your data belongs to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Cloudy really free?
Yes, Cloudy is completely free to use. Our goal is to provide essential data protection to everyone without a price barrier.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is primarily stored locally on your own computer. You also have the option to securely connect your personal Google Drive account to store an additional copy in your own cloud space. Cloudy developers never have access to your files or backup destinations.
How does Google Drive integration work?
Cloudy uses Google's secure authentication (OAuth 2.0) to connect to your Google Drive. You grant permission for the app to access a specific folder (or create one) in your Drive. All data transfer is directly between your computer and your Google Drive account.
What happens if my computer is offline during a scheduled backup?
If a scheduled backup is missed, Cloudy will attempt to run it as soon as your computer is back online and the conditions (e.g., idle state, if configured) are met. You can also initiate manual backups at any time.
How secure is my data with Cloudy?
Security is a top priority. Your data remains on your local machine or your personal Google Drive. Cloudy facilitates the backup process but doesn't store your files on its own servers. For local backups, your data's security is as good as your computer's security. For Google Drive, it's protected by Google's robust security measures.
Does Cloudy see or access my files?
No. Cloudy operates entirely locally on your machine. It reads your files to back them up and writes them to your chosen destination (local or your Google Drive). No file contents or personal information are ever sent to Cloudy's developers or any third parties.
